Hill Named ACCC Intern

ACCC Commissioner Dean Myrick announced Snead State Community College sophomore Teryn Hill as the new ACCC Public Relations and Marketing Intern recently.

Hill, a graduate of Sardis High School, is studying Public Relations. She also works in the Office of Public Relations and Marketing at Snead State Community College and coaches CrossFit.

"I am grateful to Commissioner Myrick and the ACCC for this wonderful opportunity," said Hill. "I'm excited and eager to get started."

Hill's responsibilities as ACCC Intern will include creating graphics for social media, handling the official social media accounts of the ACCC, writing feature stories and providing game photo coverage at ACCC tournament events. She will also be developing social media marketing campaigns for the conference.

She is an Ambassador at Snead State and is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. She is attending Snead State on scholarship and is also the recipient of the Snead State Alumni Association Scholarship.

She was the first student to receive the Alabama Community College System Public Relations Association Student Scholarship. As a recipient of the ACCSPRA Student Scholarship, Hill was recognized at the association's annual conference and attended the conference to learn more about the field of public relations and to network with other public relations professionals in the state.

She was also recently named the Alabama Community College System Ambassador for Snead State.

"The community college experience has changed my life," said Hill. "I did dual enrollment in high school to get a head start, but going on campus for classes is something that terrified me. After high school I did my entire first semester online before my friend and mentor, Miranda Collier, encouraged me to try on campus classes."

Once Hill dove into the active student life at Snead State, things started to change.

"After getting on campus this past spring, I really started to break out of my shy girl shell. I joined NSLS, became a student leader at Parson Days and joined Ambassadors. One of my absolute favorite things about Snead State is our athletic program. Working in the Office of Public Relations and Marketing and handling some sports information duties really opened my eyes to the ACCC and the difference athletics can make in a student's experience on a college campus."

Hill will begin her duties as the ACCC Public Relations and Marketing Intern immediately. She plans to transfer to Jacksonville State University after graduating with her Associate degree from Snead State in May of 2020. At JSU, she will pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations.

"My goal through this internship is to highlight this outstanding athletic conference through creative new ways and campaigns, to further develop and hone my skillset and to become an even bigger advocate for community college athletics. Because of the ACCC and the athletic programs across our system, the dream of attending college is made possible for many underserved and minority students. Not only do these athletic programs benefit our student-athletes, but they also make a huge difference in the student experience on campus and spark a connection with our community."

"The Conference is very fortunate to have someone as talented as Teryn", stated Myrick. "Teryn brings an energy and enthusiasm to her work, and will be a very welcomed addition.  I know our members will benefit greatly from her talents."
