Amos Willingham, a 2018 graduate of Snead State, has been drafted by the Washington Nationals.

Snead State baseball was well represented in the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft on June 5 when two student-athletes were selected on the third day, including Amos Willingham in the 17th round (No. 513 overall) by the Washington Nationals and Will Guay in the 24th round (No. 725 overall) by the St. Louis Cardinals.

After transferring from Snead State Community College, Amos Willingham jumped onto the scene at Georgia Tech as a veteran midweek starter before assuming the Friday starter position for injured junior Xzavion Curry.

Willingham found his footing easy enough, finishing with an 8-2 record in 18 appearances and 13 starts, pitching 69 1/3 innings with a 5.19 ERA.

He finished with 42 strikeouts and an opponents' batting average of .285, while also pitching a part of a combined shutout.

In three of his final four starts to 2019, including three postseason games, the Summerville, Georgia, native only allowed more than two runs once, stringing together two-straight quality starts to finish the season.

Will Guay of the Concord University baseball team was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals with the 17th pick in the 24th round of Major League Baseball's First Year Player Draft Wednesday afternoon.

Guay was the 725th overall selection in the 2019 draft and the fifth played drafted from the Atlantic Region.

The West Palm Beach, Florida native is just the fourth Concord player to be selected in the MLB Draft. This past spring, Guay went 6-4 on the mound with a 3.07 ERA while setting the single-season program record with 82 strikeouts in 70.1 innings. Guay limited opponents to a .229 batting average as he became an All-MEC First Team performer—the first, first team all-conference pitcher for CU since 2010.
