Snead State advances to ACCC Championship Finals

BOAZ, Ala. – The Snead State Men's Basketball team rolled past Shelton State on Thursday night 88-67 to advance to the ACCC Championship Finals for the first time since 2020.

The Parsons (24-8) will take on the ACCC-South No. 2-seed Coastal Alabama-South Sun Chiefs (22-9) on Friday, March 10, at 6:30 p.m. at Alabama A&M University for a chance to cut down the nets and claim the NJCAA South District title. Snead State is the ACCC-North No. 2-seed.

Ty Briscoe paced the Parsons with 22 points, including three treys in the first half. Donte Bacchus scored 16 including two three-pointers. John Whitehead III scored 14 points including two three-pointers. Cole Maddox dropped in 13 including two three-pointers.

Jordan Long finished with 8 points, including a trey. Mario Andrews had 7 points.

Jalon Chapman scored 4 points. DJ Quarles dropped in a trey. Shawn Walker Jr. added 1 point.

As a team, the Parsons knocked down 11 three-pointers. Shelton State only hit five.

The Parsons led Shelton State 37-32 at the half, but went on to outscore them 51-35 in the second half.

Before defeating Shelton State in the semifinals, Snead State first knocked out Chattahoochee Valley in the opening round of the tournament 67-59.

Friday night's game will mark just the second meeting of the year between Snead State and Coastal Alabama-South. On Friday, Feb. 3, the Parsons hosted the Sun Chiefs but came up short 73-70.

Snead State Men's Basketball previously won the ACCC Championship Tournament in 2018 under Patterson – the program's first since 1990. In 2020, the Parsons finished runner-up.

Tickets will not be sold at the door. Tickets must be purchased through www.aamutix.com. Cost of admission for Championship Friday is $8.

No outside food or drink is allowed. Alabama A&M has a clear bag policy. Fans may only carry the following style and size of bag, package, or container into the stadium:

- Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12."

- One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bags or similar)
