Lady Parsons to travel for ACCC play-in game

The Snead State women's basketball team earned the No. 5 seed in the North Division and will travel to South Division No. 4 seed Wallace-Selma for a play-in game Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Snead State-Wallace winner advances to the quarterfinals of the Alabama Community College Conference Tournament, where it faces No. 1 North seed Shelton State on March 6 at 1 p.m. Lawson State in Birmingham is the tournament host.

The Lady Parsons are 15-14 overall and finished 3-7 in North Division play. They've won three games in a row and four of their last five.

Snead State closed out its regular season Monday night by upsetting No. 2 North seed Wallace State-Hanceville 69-66 at Tom Drake Coliseum.

The Lady Parsons trailed 20-19, 42-29 and 59-48 at the quarter breaks. They rallied for the win by outscoring Wallace State 21-7 in the fourth period.

SSCC 86, Southern Union 81: The Lady Parsons sailed to a 53-30 halftime advantage and held on for an 86-81 victory Feb. 21 at Plunkett-Wallace Gymnasium.

Tamia Knight came off the bench to lead Snead State with 16 points. Catlin Carter scored 15, Tamia Willingham-King 14 and former Crossville star Cassie McDaniel 11.

Willingham-King pulled down a team-best 11 rebounds.

SSCC 87, Coastal Alabama-South 62: The Lady Parsons whipped Coastal-South in a Feb. 15 matchup at Plunkett-Wallace Gymnasium.

Snead State dominated the boards, outrebounding the visitors 52-33. The Lady Parsons held Coastal-South without a 3-pointer, as it finished 0-for-8.

Christian Bolden collected 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals for SSCC. Carter closed with 15 points, five boards and three steals, and Mia Creech racked up 15 points and eight rebounds.

Willingham-King totaled 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Knight had eight points and three assists while McDaniel scored seven.

SSCC 84, Gadsden State 82: The Lady Parsons edged their archrival in a Feb. 9 battle at Beck Field House.

Knight's 17 points topped a quartet of Lady Parsons who scored in double figures. She made four of Snead State's 25 steals.

Willingham-King contributed 13 points, 12 boards, four steals and three blocks. Jasmine Branford posted 11 points and eight rebounds while McDaniel scored 10.

JeNya Wilder tossed in nine points, and Tyleia Williams got eight points and three boards. Carter closed with seven points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Morgan Frazier's 23 points led Gadsden State.
