Lady Parsons Volleyball Sweep Gadsden and Coastal-South in Oct. Matches
The Snead State Community College Lady Parsons Volleyball team wrapped up the last five matches with a 3-2 record, bringing their overall record to 17-11. The Lady Parsons swept Gadsden State and Coastal South on Oct. 2 and Oct. 5, respectfully, and defeated Bishop State 3-1 on Oct. 7. Snead State suffered losses to Santa Fe College and Enterprise State on Oct. 4.
The Snead State Community College Lady Parsons Volleyball team wrapped up the last five matches with a 3-2 record, bringing their overall record to 17-11.
The Lady Parsons swept Gadsden State and Coastal South on Oct. 2 and Oct. 5, respectfully, and defeated Bishop State 3-1 on Oct. 7. Snead State suffered losses to Santa Fe College and Enterprise State on Oct. 4.
On Oct. 2, the Lady Parsons opened the week with a dominant 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-14) sweep over Gadsden State Community College. Jaleigh DeVine of Gadsden led the charge with 11 kills, while Tazi Harris of Guntersville added 7 kills. Setter Gracie Manley of Addison tallied 20 assists, facilitating the offensive attack.
However, Snead State struggled in back-to-back matches on Oct. 4. First, they faced Santa Fe College at Enterprise, Alabama, and fell in straight sets, 3-0. They then faced Enterprise State Community College, where they also dropped a 3-0 decision.
The Lady Parsons bounced back on Oct. 5, defeating Coastal Alabama-South 3-0. Harris and DeVine once again spearheaded the offense with 6 kills each, while Liberty Shadix of Cullman added 3 kills and 4 blocks. The team's efficient hitting, particularly Shadix's .125 hitting percentage, played a crucial role.
Snead State wrapped up the week with another strong showing on Oct. 7, securing a 3-1 victory over Bishop State. Snead State won the first two sets 25-16 and 25-10 but lost to Bishop in the third set 23-25. The Lady Parsons rallied in the fourth set with a 25-16 win to claim the victory.
The Lady Parsons will look to build on their momentum as they head into another round of matches. They'll compete Friday and Saturday in the Snead State Classic to be held at the Boaz Recreation Center. The Lady Parsons will play Friday at noon against Bevill State Community College and at 4 p.m. against Northeast Mississippi Community College. They compete on Saturday at 9 a.m. against Walters State Community College and at 3 p.m. against Pearl River Community College.
