SSCC’s Porch named ALABCA Junior College Assistant Coach of the Year

BOAZ, Ala. – Snead State Assistant Baseball Coach Andrew Porch was recently named the Alabama Coaches Association (ALABCA) JUCO Assistant Coach of the Year.

"I feel honored that I was even nominated and more so that I was selected out of the many great college coaches in our state," Porch said. "Winning Assistant Coach of the Year is very special, knowing I have had the privilege to coach and mentor many great players over these past few years and even more honored to be able to work with such a great coaching staff."

Porch, a native of Boaz, is in his fifth year as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Parsons Baseball, and his 10th year overall with Snead State. He's helped lead Snead State Baseball to win the 2021 ACCC North Division Regular Season Championship, the 2022 ACCC Tournament Championship and earn a bid to the 2022 JUCO World Series.

Since joining the coaching staff, Porch has also introduced various technologies and analytical innovations to the program, including the ability to livestream all home games and the use of tools like Blast Motion, Rapsodo and Core Velocity Belt.

Before joining Snead State Head Coach Casey Underwood's staff in 2018, Porch served as a volunteer coach for the Snead State Softball program. Porch previously coached travel softball winning several state championships and a national championship in 2017.

"I was approached by Coach Underwood about joining the baseball team's coaching staff in 2018 – his first year as head coach – and was truly impressed by his leadership and overall foundation in how he wanted to build and grow Snead State Baseball," Porch said. "It has been a true honor to work with Coach Underwood and Coach Ledbetter and all the other coaches that have been here the last few years."

"I can't thank Coach Porch enough for all the work he does, and all the time he puts into our players," said Snead State Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach Casey Underwood. "He's had a tremendous impact on our program since the first day he stepped into the building. I was glad to see him get this award, because he really deserves it."

Prior to his time at Snead State, Porch had a successful career in business.

Porch founded Team TSI Corporation in 1991 and worked as CEO as his business soon became one of the nation's largest growth technology companies. Porch is a two-time recipient of Businessman of the Year (2001, 2008) from the Republican Business Council of Alabama. Porch later sold the company in 2019.

Porch is a former graduate of Albertville High School. He holds a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the Naval Institute of Technology.

He is the husband of 30 years to Sherry Ann Porch (a Snead State graduate) and the father of two children, Hunter (a graduate of Auburn University) and Holly (a current freshman at Snead State).
