Snead State Men's Basketball jumps out to 9-4 start

BOAZ, Ala. – The Snead State Community College Men's Basketball Team has jumped out to an 9-4 (3-0 ACCC) start to the 2023-24 season, having won their last six consecutive games.

Currently, the Parsons sit at No. 2 in the ACCC Division II standings just behind Chattahoochee Valley (9-4, 4-0).

Over 13 games, Snead State is 6-1 at home and 3-3 on the road. The Parsons are averaging 77.4 points per game, 48.2 FG%, 37.0 3PT% (5th in the ACCC), 71.6 FT% (2nd in the ACCC), 36.6 REB, and 16.6 AST (4th in the ACCC).

Snead State is also taking care of the basketball, averaging just 9.6 turnovers per game, which was tied for the best in the conference.

Defensively, the Parsons are holding opponents to an average of 73.7 points per game (6th in the ACCC), 43.3 FG% (5th in the ACCC), and 28.0 3PT% (2nd in the ACCC).

Three Parsons have been recognized as ACCC Athletes of the Week for their outstanding play.

K.J. Rogers, a sophomore guard from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, was named an Athlete of the Week on Nov. 14. He averaged 24.5 points, 6 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 2.5 assists per game. On the season, K.J. is shooting 43.2% from 3PT, which is the 10th-best mark in the ACCC.

Donte Bacchus, a sophomore forward from Homewood, was named an Athlete of the Week for Nov. 29. Over the week, he averaged 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Donte leads the team with 21.5 points per game this season (second-best in the ACCC) and shooting 48.8% from the field.

Most recently, Mario Andrews, a sophomore center from Independence, La., was named an Athlete of the Week for Dec. 5. He averaged 10 points, an amazing 23.5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block per game while shooting 87.5%. Mario is averaging 12.3 rebounds per game this year, which leads the ACCC. He also led the conference in rebounding last season.

The Parsons have two more games scheduled before the winter break, on Thursday, Dec. 14, at Wallace State and a home game against Motlow State on Friday, Dec. 15, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
