Cristie Brothers is a Geraldine High School graduate where she was an All-County and All-Area volleyball player.  After high school, Cristie attended Snead State and then graduated Magna Cum Laude from Athens State University in 1993. She would go on to receive her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Gadsden.

In 1997, Cristie was hired to be the volleyball coach at Geraldine High School. Over the next 21 seasons, Coach Brothers would turn that program into a State powerhouse team. During that time Geraldine Volleyball would win 14 Dekalb County Championships, 16 Area Titles, 12 final 8 State Appearances, 2 State Runners-up trophies, and 1 Class 2A State Championship in 2001.

Brothers had her 800th win on September 20, 2016 against Cullman High School making her the 15th coach in Alabama history to reach that mark. She was the first coach in Dekalb County to reach that mark. 

Coach Brothers’ 2006 team set a single-season win record with 59 wins. Her overall record as a Head Coach at Geraldine was 872 wins and 346 losses averaging an astounding 41.5 wins per season. Twenty-seven of Coach Brothers’ players went on to receive scholarships to play volleyball at the next level. Many of her former players have followed in her footsteps and are now in the coaching ranks. 

Beginning in 2018, Cristie joined Snead State Community College as an assistant volleyball coach. On May 1, 2022, Coach Brothers was named Head Coach of the Snead State Community College Volleyball Program. She is married to Terry Brothers and they have two children, Shelby and Noah.
